The Birth of Jimmy Page Dragon Tele
Here is the quick history on Jimmy Page’s famous “Dragon” Telecaster. In 1961, John Owen purchased a 1959 Telecaster with $107 and soon presented it to Beck, who was John Owen's bandmate in Deltones. In 1965, Jeff Beck brought this unique guitar to Yardbirds. Jeff Beck replaced the first white Bakelite pickguard of the 1959 Telecaster into a hand-crafted black pickguard. In August 1966 when Jeff Beck departed from Yardbirds, he gave this unique guitar, a comparatively costly electric guitar at the moment, to Jimmy. Jimmy brought the Dragon Telecaster from Yardbirds to Led Zeppelin as his primary instrument. The Dragon Tele didn't diminish from eye sight until in April 1969 he got the "number one" Gibson Les Paul from Joe Walsh. In 1967, Page performed a fantastic alteration on to this electric guitar, painting a red, orange and green dragon on the ash body and additionally replacing the pickguard into a clear acrylic pickguard with a piece of diffraction grating material underneath. Then, the well-known Dragon Tele appeared in guitar history.
Features of Our Jimmy Page dragon Tele
Our Jimmy Page dragon Tele were created totally in accordance with the actual construction and data, the form and measurements and all other parts are just the same as the original guitar. The body is created of ash wood, just the identical as the authentic Dragon Tele, together with rosewood fretboard and maple neck.
The pick-ups of the original Jimmy Page dragon Tele are Fender single-coil pickups, and we can offer other various brands such as Wilkinson and Fender along with other single-coil pick-ups from low end to high-end solutions.
The original pickguard was stated to be a see-through pickguard using a aluminum foil below it to create a mirror effect. But the foil has a tendency to darken as time passes, therefore we offer you a mirror pickguard to obtain a perfect effect, and it seems to be much nearer to the original Jimmy Page dragon Tele.
We have to show that as for the finish, the actual dragon design was drawn by Jimmy himself, and ours were hand painted by our professional luthiers. When compared with Jimmy Page, we wouldn't be much better than master Jimmy Page, but we are confident the artwork is at least as the same, if not far better than, with the actual electric guitar. In addition, most people thought there's no hand-draw dragon in the back of guitar. But if you like the dragon also appeared on the back, we are able to complete it according to your personal desire.
The headstock of the original instrument is a Fender 1959' telecaster headstock, however for unidentified purpose; Jimmy Page cleaned the original logo away, so we've got no logo upon the headstock of our replicated instrument.
Songs ever Performed with the Dragon Telecaster by Jimmy Page
Jimmy used this guitar to record most of the first Led Zeppelin album, and some of the second. He retired it as his main instrument in April of 1969. The Dragon Telecaster would make its last live appearance in front of an audience on May 3, 1969 at a show in Pasadena, California at the Rose Palace. The guitar would make a dramatic comeback, a sort of swan song if you will on Led Zeppelin's most well known work, "Stairway to Heaven" where Page used it to record the dramatic solo near the end of the song.
This guitar has some truly great features for the right price. It will satisfy a lot of musicians' desires.
