Some thing about the Fender SRV Number One Relic Strat Guitar

In January 2004, Fender unveiled the prototype Number One replica at the winter NAMM trade show in Anaheim CA. Custom Shop staff had been granted access to Stevie's precious Number One to document every detail of the guitar. Fender Custom Shop Luthier, John Cruz, replicated not only the exact electronic components by measuring the output of the pickups, but was also determined to replicate every scratch, nick and dent. Even the cigarette burns on the headstock would be replicated. Fender planned to make only 100 replicas. Word at the trade show spread fast and the rumor was that all 100 guitars had been ordered by various dealers. The price is rumored to be at least $10,000 each.

Each work is to be considered as a fully functional individual piece of art.

Unfortunately for most working class guitarists and SRV fans, the price is too high and there are too few made to even attempting to purchase one of these replicas. For the well to do collector, I'm sure this guitar is going to make a fine collectable. As for the rest of us, there's always the DIY method,  or you can buy this Fender SRV Number One Relic Strat Guitar replica from us ~~~

Granted this one in particular was custom built to look naturally worn as it’s a model of Fender SRV Number One Relic Strat guitar. The details even went as far as to simulate the cracked headstock that Steve Ray’s had from a fabled time where he’d smacked his guitar into a speaker cab.  Well , we just did the same job, replica from head to tail, every sigle part to the very small details.   You can see clearly  the burned marks on the headstock, the SRV signature, etc.~

This Guitar is modeled after the guitar Stevie Ray Vaughan dubbed Number One.  As it’s been told Vaughan acquired this guitar used in a music shop walking through simply looking at the guitars before having picked up that one in particular where the owner Ray Hennig exclaimed, “Stevie, you have got to have picked the biggest junker on the wall.”  That junker would soon become his personal favorite.  This guitar has been very accurately modeled after the original narrowed down to the cigarette burns.   The alder sunburst body came from a signature Eric Johnson Strat.  The neck is a traditional Strat neck made of maple with a rosewood fretboard on it.

Soon after he got the guitar, Vaughan tried to change the guitar over to a 'left-handed' tremolo to imitate one of his idols, Jimi Hendrix. Because the quality of his 'transformation' was so poor, he went to a truck stop to find something to cover the giant hole he chopped in the body, hence the "CUSTOM" sticker across the bottom of the bridge. He also found some large, prismatic stickers to spell his initials "SRV" on and applied those to the guitar for a little extra flash. His use of the stickers make Number One one of the most recognizable guitars in the history of modern music.

On the body of our Stevie Ray Vaughan Number One Guitar,  comes has weathered “Custom” and “SRV” stickers much like the original and has a gold Fender tremolo.  Yes, the hardwares are also relic.  It look a bit strange because , we are using "left-handed" tremolo on the right handed body ~~~ just like Stevie Ray Vaughan did on his Number One~  ( the photos shows a right handed tremolo on a lefty body, Reverse anyway )

About the owner of this Fender SRV Number One Relic Strat : Stevie Ray Vaughan

Stephen Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990) — known as Stevie Ray Vaughan — was an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. In spite of a short-lived mainstream career spanning seven years, he is widely considered one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of blues music, and one of the most important figures in the revival of blues in the 1980s. Allmusic describes him as "a rocking powerhouse of a guitarist who gave blues a burst of momentum in the '80s, with influence still felt long after his tragic death."

Vaughan received several music awards during his lifetime and posthumously. In 1983, readers of Guitar Player voted him as Best New Talent and Best Electric Blues Guitar Player. In 1984, the Blues Foundation named him Entertainer of the Year and Blues Instrumentalist of the Year, and in 1987 Performance Magazine honored him with Rhythm and Blues Act of the Year. Earning six Grammy Awards and ten Austin Music Awards, he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2014. Rolling Stone ranked Vaughan as the twelfth greatest guitarist of all time.

Vaughan owned and used a variety of guitars during his career. His guitar of choice, and the instrument that he became most associated with, was the Fender Stratocaster, his favorite being a 1962 body, with a 1961 neck, and pickups dated from 1959. This is why Vaughan usually referred to his Stratocaster as a, "1959 Strat." Vaughan also referred to this instrument as his "first wife," or, "Number One."  Yes, this is the replica from his Fender SRV Number One Relic Strat.
