ESP James Hetfield Guitar - MX 220

Ahead of the collaboration between Hetfield and ESP, Hetfields explorer style guitars were of Navigator band.

In the late nineteen eighties, ESP produced numerous explorer guitars for Hetfield, including several famous guitars as raised-middle-finger inlayed EET FUK explorer, dots inlayed explorer having words A Year and a Half In the Life of Metallica; pt. 1. All these ESP James Hetfield had been known as EX in the starting and later on known as ESP James Hetfield MX-220ii.

Explanation of this title:
M- Metallica
X- Explorer
220- a normal price tag
II- 2 pickups

ESP James Hetfield MX-220II is a little shorter compared to the size (from the strap button at bottom to the end of the headstock), the angular is smoother a bit, the gap between the toggle swap to the knob is a little bit nearer than the present explorer guitars. And it has an exclusive truss rod cover which is parallel to the nut and possesses two anchoring screws. The structure of this particular ESP James Hetfield electric guitar regarding the conjunction of the body and the neck is round jack embedded.

The further adjustment to ESP James Hetfield MX-220II is utilizing a metal plate with 4 anchoring screws to fix the ports. The truss rod cover nonetheless has 2 anchoring screws, but isn't parallel to nut anymore. No modification is found to the rest components.

Later on, during the evolution of the ESP James Hetfield MX-220II, the ESP changed the construction again to bolt-on structure.

The subsequent MX-220II is quite the same to Hetfields 1st explorer. This ESP James Hetfield guitar is belonging to EXPCustom with outdated fashioned body contour and no serial number. It is stated that there's no serial number and circular trademark on the headstock back of the ESP James Hetfield MX-220II guitar.

Presumably, the contour of the mx-220II is accomplished in line with the 1958 explorer

Later on, the brand new design was called ESP James Hetfield MX250 (later on named MX-II, 250 indicates the price tag). The MX-250II is a little bit lengthier compared with MX-220II, far more pointed at the tip. During early nineteen nineties, ESP implemented parallel spherical jacks. And in this ESP James Hetfield guitar, the pickups switch is a bit farther away from the volume control and pickups.

ESP James Hetfield Mx 250 was released in Japan, with ebony fingerboard, mahogany neck, mahogany body, EMG 81 pickups, poly finish, and black dots inlays. Irrespective of what color you wish, they are always highly-priced. You may ask for special tuners and also other optional details, and you are able to customize this ESP James Hetfield in USA, but they are recognized as "EXP custom" for the reason that the "MX" is specified for some other versions. They've bell-shaped truss rod cover which is fixed with 1 screw, at the rear of the headstock there's the serial number. ESP batch altered the form of the truss rod cover in '55.

MX 250

The esp ESP James Hetfield explorer launched in U.S. are all EXP styles which have 2 variations, ESP and LTD. EXP is of MX-II body, bolt-on neck, the ESP (ESP EXP) version is characterized by mahogany body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard; the LTD version (LTD EXP-200) is also of maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. It’s mentioned that the ESP James Hetfield guitar body employed different materials in different years, alder used in the early years, and later on turned into mahogany. The fingerboard inlays also changed, there had been two dots on the 12th fret of the early LTD version but altered right into a block (written with LTD) in later on models.

In LTD series, there's a type known as EXP-300, which has a neck through construction, floyd rose special Bridge and two EMG 81 pickups

In 2000, ESP established a manufacturing plant in Korea and created LTD MX-130 which is much like ESP James Hetfield MX-250II. And the exciting factor is there is no serial number. These products were marketed simply in Japan. Like MX-II, they have 2 EMG81 pick-ups, neck through construction and black finish. These ESP James Hetfield guitars occasionally might be discovered on Ebay but were ceased in the year 2003.

ESP James Hetfield Special Series

The initial EX/MX-220II customized inlays series is 1989s "EET FUK", which was released with a tiny quantity. The fifth fret is a little smaller and there is no step over the neck. Clearly, Hetfield immediately discovered this problem; hence the production line was forced to be shut down. It's said the quantity is below thirty. Some ESP James Hetfield mx-250II body applied this sort of inlays too.

The unique mx-250II as "Man To Wolf is known as Japans esp unique intriguing group, which signifies that you should really offer a large price to buy ESP James Hetfield guitar.
